The Sippican Historical Society is pleased to partner with the Marion Garden Group’s Secret Gardens of Marion on June 25.

Secret Gardens of Marion is a tour of 8 stunning gardens in Marion. It is a one day event, rain or shine and open to the public. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 on the day. Go to mariongardengroup.org for ticket information. The tour begins at Bicentennial Park, 1 Spring Street, Marion, MA where you can pick up your garden map any time after 10am. The map is your ticket into the gardens and will be checked off at each location by a greeter.

A special exhibition of botanical photographs by lens-based artist Deb Ehrens will also be on display. In keeping with the Historical Society’s white and silver Memorial Garden, the exhibition will feature Deb’s studies of white blossoms which will be on sale at the Shop.

It is no accident that people often mistake Deb Ehrens photographs for paintings. Her digital darkroom process begins like that of a painter’s – with underpaintings and value studies.  Using a digital graphics pen as a paintbrush, she sculpts light into her imagery to enhance the sense of movement and depth. Ehrens learned the basics of black and white photography as an adjunct to her early career as a journalist, and more recently has studied with Harold Ross, Dan Burkholder and taken classes at RISD and Maine Media.  An on-going mentorship with painter Deborah Quinn-Munson has been instrumental in developing her artistic eye.  She is an Elected Artist Member of the Rhode Island Art League, Juried Artist Member of the Cape Cod Art Center, and Exhibiting Member of the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts.
