Lauren Wolk – Writing without a Map
November 13, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
| FreeAward-winning author Lauren Wolk returns to Marion!
Some writers create a map before they begin a story. They know exactly where they’re going and how to get there. Others are “pantsers” who write by the seat of their pants, without a map or even a destination. Lauren Wolk is a confirmed pantser who has learned that although writing into the unknown can lead to “wrong” turns, dead ends, and a certain amount of anxiety, it also promises adventure, awakens instincts, ignites courage, piques curiosity, sparks imagination, and invokes memories as she makes the journey hand in hand with her characters. Wolk will talk about this writing process and how it has shaped her novels, poems, and the short films she has been making for the past year. This is an all-ages event that will include ample opportunity for questions.
