Let’s Talk About History Book Club

At the inaugural “Let’s Talk About History” book club meeting, we discussed the Pulitzer Prize Award winning Master, Slave, Husband, Wife by Ilyon Woo. If you haven’t read it yet, the group unanimously gave thumbs up for Woo’s research, incredible storytelling and the amazing lives of Ellen and William Craft.

What should be our next book?

While there were no specific suggestions at the meeting, they agreed that the next book should focus on another place and time. Preferably a biography or exploration of an event, a good option would focus on a specific time rather than a policy analysis or overview. Oodles of enticing options abound, but the next book will be:

Paperback book cover of The Pirate's Wife: The Remarkable True Story of Sarah Kidd by D.P. Geanacopoulos

The Pirate’s Wife by Daphne Palmer Geanacopoulos

Lucky for us, the April 22 Speaker Series will feature Dr. Geanacopoulos at the Music Hall. Her presentation will be open to the public (donations always appreciated), with an RSVP encouraged.

Would you like to talk about the remarkable life of Sarah Kidd? If yes, email SHS to learn about the Book Club’s next meeting. We look forward to sharing ideas and impressions together.
