The Sippican Historical Society seeks applicants for its annual History Scholarship.

The Judith Westlund Rosbe History Scholarship was established in 2021 with funds donated for the purpose of promoting the mission of the Sippican Historical Society: to preserve three centuries of Marion’s unique history and build community by fostering an interest in its cultural and architectural legacy.

Marion resident Judith Rosbe has had a life-long interest in history. She majored in History at Northwestern University and is the author of 6 local history books on Marion, including Maritime Marion, Marion in the Golden Age, and the Marion Art Center. The Judith Westlund Rosbe History Scholarship in the amount of $1250.00 is awarded annually to a senior at ORR who is a resident of Marion and has an interest in a continuing study of history at the college/university level.

Eligible applicants should submit the following materials: • A paper (minimum 800 words) or project on a historical topic, with evidence of research in the Sippican Historical Society archives particularly desirable. Local history topics are especially interesting to the scholarship committee. • Recommendation from an ORR history teacher • A completed information form (found below). All application materials for the 2022 Rosbe History Scholarship must be received by May 16, 2022, and may be sent through US mail or via email to:
