Cuffe: Taxed is a short film that reimagines the daring 1778 voyage Captain Paul Cuffe and Michael Wainer as they dodged the British to bring provisions to Nantucket. Writer and Director Anita Allison, inspired by the Black and Wampanoag mariner who was one of the richest and most influential Black men in the Revolutionary era, shares her journey to tell Cuffe’s story.
