Sippican Historical Society welcomes new archivist

The Sippican Historical Society has appointed Leslie Thayer Piper as its archivist, under the grant that the society recently received from a Community Preservation Committee grant.
Piper recently earned an M.S. in Library and Information Science, with a concentration in Archives Management, at Simmons College. She will be responsible for organizing and cataloguing the Historical Society’s collection of documents and artifacts, as well as uploading the information onto the society’s database for public use. She is also currently the archivist for the estate of John Winthrop Sears, and has worked in the archives/special collections of the Josten Performing Arts Library at Smith College, the Trustees of Reservations, and the Concord Free Public Library.In addition to her archival skills, Piper is an accomplished musician, and serves as the Director of Music and Organist for St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director Emerita of the SouthCoast Children’s Chorus.
